I came across Rose Hip Oil last year when I read an Article where Miranda Kerr discussed how Rose Hip Oil is her holy grail for keeping her skin hydrated and plump.
I spent a while researching all the benefits of Rose hip oil to see whether it would be suitable for my skin, as I have sensitive skin, and suffer from slight pigmentation.
There are many benefits of using Rose Hip Oil, hence why many celebrities use it in their daily skincare regimen.
First things first, Rose Hip Oil is extracted from the seed of a wild rose bush, so its mostly sold in its purest form.
Dr.Ariel Ostad in an interview with Glamour Magazine said ‘ Rose Hip Oil is packed with Vitamins, Antioxidants, and essential fatty acids which may correct dark spots and hydrate dry skin’.
So, if anyone has dark marks from acne or just areas with hyper-pigmentation, Rose Hip Oil is something which you can use to help with such issues. ( Even with stretch marks, it helps reduce the appearance of the marks, however, it never completely fades away).
Plus there is nothing wrong with Stretch marks, it’s a part of everyone, so don’t stress, if you think you’re the only one .
1) In terms of moisturising, for my night time skin care routine, I apply Rose hip oil to my skin for hydration, after cleansing my face, so when I wake up in the morning, my skin is soft and replenished.
2) Anti-ageing is such a craze in the beauty industry today, as everyone wants to get rid of wrinkles and have baby skin always. If, you implement Rose hip oil in your regimen early on, it will protect your skin and keep it hydrated, therefore slowing the process of wrinkling, as most people don’t realise wrinkling occurs due to lack of moisture in the skin.
Prevention is better than cure 😊
3) Making your skin looking alive!
When you start using Rose hip oil, your skin feels much brighter than it would usually look. Have any of you had them days, where your skin just looks so dull, and you think wow! Well…..try applying a drop of Rose hip oil to your face, and your skin feels so much more alive .
4) Uneven skin tone :
If you suffer from uneven skin tones, then Rose hip is also for you. Kate Middleton also uses Rose hip oil part of her skin care routine, for fading scars, stretch marks and general skin care benefits, as it is a natural way of helping your skin recover from any issues it may be going through.
Even if you don’t have any issues with your skin, Rose Hip Oil contains many beneficial fatty acids, which will help the elasticity and over all health of your skin for the longer run.My Rose Hip Journey
When I first started using rose hip oil, I started using the company Trilogy, which Kate Middleton uses.( I read this from an Instagram Blogger page called @katemiddelton. Check her page, as she mentions other products Kate uses). So, during the Duchesses state visit to New Zealand, it is reported that the Brand Owners of Trilogy introduced Kate to the oil, and she has been a fan ever since.
So for a few months, I started using the Trilogy Rose hip oil, till I started realising how expensive it was getting as a single bottle was costing me around £20- £30, and since I use the oil daily, it was finishing as quick.
Then, I came across The Ordinary, a brand I was quite sceptical about at first, hearing some negative reviews from close friends. However, I decided to personally give their version of their 100% organic cold pressed rose hip seed oil, as their bottles are £9.00 each, a much more affordable option.
Its been almost Two years, and I haven’t gone for any other brand for their rose hip oil, except the ordinary, as their rose hip oil is amazing and has the same result as any other brand .
Both oils are great as each other, however The Ordinary is just a much affordable option.
Helpful Tips x
If you want a dewy, non-cakey makeup look, apply a drop of Rose Hip oil to your foundation and mix it together, and apply it to your skin. The foundation will look flawless, trust me.If you use a concealer or foundation from a pot or palette, and it becomes dry or hard ( maybe due to the weather ), just apply a drop of Rose Hip oil, and mix however much you will use, and the makeup will come back to life.
If you have dry under eyes, just apply some of the oil and massage it under your eye gently with your ring finger, and it should reduce the dryness.
( Ring finger, because it is the most gentle finger, and your under eye is also very gentle). I don’t want you to scrub your under eye, and come back with a blue eye LOL).
Both bottles come with a syringe, so it’s easy to count how much you are using.
